Rajan Anandan is one of the most active angel investors in India. Rajan focuses on early stage investments in internet, mobile, software, ITES and business services. Rajan has invested in many Indian start-ups and has a large portfolio of companies in India. His investments in India include Buytheprice.com, Authorstream.com, Exclusively.in, Taxspanner, Innovize Tech, Hungryzone, Druva, Digilogues, Eurekha and Viedea.
Rajan's professional career has spanned across high technology and management consulting. Rajan Anandan is the Managing Director of Google India. In this role Rajan is the Vice President responsible for Sales and Operations for Google in India. Prior to this, Rajan was the Managing Director of Microsoft India until August 2010. In this role Rajan was responsible for Microsoft's Sales, Marketing and Services Group in India. Microsoft is the largest software company in India. Under Rajan's leadership Microsoft became the highest performing subsidiary for Microsoft in the Large Emerging Markets in 2009. During his tenure Microsoft launched its Cloud Services portfolio across all three layers of the cloud: saas, paas and iaas and quickly became the leading Cloud Services provider in India.
Prior to joining Dell, Rajan was a Partner with McKinsey & Company in Chicago. At McKinsey he worked with companies across a broad range of industries including technology, industrial and business services.
Rajan leverages his direct investing experience, professional experience leading large technology businesses and his passion for technology to help start-ups build large exciting businesses. Rajan invests in early stage businesses that have great founders and disruptive growth potential. Rajan's primary investment focus in India is on technology and technology enabled businesses. Rajan is an active member of the Indian Angel Network, India's first and largest angel network. He recently co-founded Blue Ocean Ventures, the first Venture Fund focused on seed stage investing in Sri Lanka.
Rajan has a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a MSc in Manufacturing Systems Engineering from Stanford University. Rajan spent 19 years in the US before returning to Asia in 2006.
